Today’s Lesson: Please stop murdering your employees. It’s just wrong.
Every employee handbook I have ever read is rife with one of my biggest HR pet peeves. The word, “Termination”.
“… disciplinary action up to or including, termination.”
“…may be subject to termination.”
“…will result in immediate termination.”
Whatever policy sadists write these manuals often forget the rest of the phrase, “OF EMPLOYMENT”.
If you stop at the word ” termination”, then you are threatening to murder your people. I know sometimes you might feel like you want to but that seems like an overly strict repercussion to administer for sleeping on the job.
Let’s just fire them, not set them on fire. Say what you mean.
